More Global Government from The UN – 01/08/2007

Where is the United Nation’s brainwashing room? Thomas P. Kilgannon has an interesting op-ed here, in which he writes about UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s apparent reversal on the idea of global government. After his appointment to Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon was asked about his feelings on the execution of Saddam Hussein. Initially, Mr. Ki-moon’s stance was that “Saddam Hussein was responsible for committing heinous crimes and unspeakable atrocities against the Iraqi people…We should never forget the victims of his crimes…The issue of capital punishment is for each and every member state to decide.” I’ll state the obvious and say this response is not the typical (and certainly not kosher) response from a UN diplomat. Needless to say this view of state government as opposed to global government was very refreshing. If only the Secretary General had stuck to his guns.

Thomas Kilgannon writes that, ‘International power brokers at the United Nations put Ban into emergency sensitivity training.” During his visit to Brussels, one month removed from his support of the death penalty, Ban Ki-moon has called for the global community to “phase-out of the death penalty” justifying this view by saying that “Life is very precious and every human being has a right to live with dignity and life of human beings must be respected and protected.” This is where Mr. Ki-moon and I part ways in our beliefs. I do agree that life is precious and must be treated with dignity and respect. However, mass murderers, and criminals on the domestic scale (rapists, murderers, and drug dealers) forfeit the rights that make their life precious and worthy of dignity and respect. They commit heinous crimes again and again and again against innocent people. They face no penalties because they have absolute power in their countries. We should not excuse these thugs for action and “understand” them or treat their life as precious.

That only validates and encourages their actions and the actions of future criminals and dictators. I am not even going to get started on Ban Ki-moon’s call for the closure of Guantanamo Bay. I’ll let this article speak for itself; Pure UN global think-tank idiocy.
